Junior Staff Accountant

Reports to: Director of Finance  

Comp: Hourly, DOE

Location: Carpinteria, CA | Hybrid Work Schedule

At the highest level, this role is responsible for maintaining reconciling accounts, accounts payable/receivable & preparing reports. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions and documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Maintains financial records for the company by analyzing balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
  • Corrects errors by posting adjusting journals.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts assigned including reconciling purchases/processing of material farms.
  • Assists with preparation of year-end audit schedules as assigned.
  • Enters assigned data into appropriate or specific systems (Journal entries, Accounts Payable, etc.).
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups, keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures complying with state and local financial legal requirements.
  • Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances.
  • Monitor office and travel expenses, enter cash receipts.
  • Provides analytical support during financial audits which may include maintaining analysis of legal, consulting and physician fees, and applicable hours.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but will consider applicants with an associate degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience.
  • General math skills, accounting, deadline oriented, reporting skills, confidentiality coordination and thoroughness. 
  • Knowledge of Google Office Suite, and QuickBooks.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
